What is Pediatric Dentistry?

Pediatric dentistry is a specialized field of dentistry in our country that specializes in ensuring and protecting the oral and dental health of children aged 13 and under. Pediatric dentistry sometimes considers different goals and needs than adult dentistry due to their different behavior, anxiety-fear, adaptation needs, having a different set of teeth (milk teeth), and physiological and metabolic characteristics than adults. Pediatric dentists provide initial dental examination, detection of caries risk and prevention of caries, and treatment of dental caries with the support of communication techniques in the clinic or, in case of more complex needs, techniques such as general anesthesia and sedation.​
